we stayed inside for weeks.
staring at the walls
as they breathed slowly in
(2, 3, 4)
and out
(2, 3, 4)
again and
again and
again.the ceiling rippled out above our heads,
leaving me a thousand leagues under—
and laughing.

If you enjoy writing, or want to explore the world of writing poetry, join me for NaPoWriMo. I will be writing and posting a poem every day. If you tag your entries with #topographe, I’ll go through them and feature poems from everyone on the blog each day!
total war, by Bethany Debenham
Bethany’s words weave and twist themselves in and out of metaphors with all the grace of silk against skin. Go read more of her work here.

I finished a hand typed print order, I’ll mail it out tomorrow. I love making these, typing on the card stock, scouring thrift stores for frames. These are made with a lot of love. If you’d like to own one yourself, you can place an older here.

Submit work to the magazine I work on! I’m collecting poetry and prose submissions. I know you guys write beautifully, I see those anonymous stories you send me.
flesh-less (a topographe and dyingfiction collaboration)
it’s been a long time since i wrote, so here is a small something rearranged from the always intoxicating lines of dyingfiction.
moses
I asked the divine ms. topographe if she’d be up for doing this with me again (“this” being taking each other’s work and cutting and pasting it into a new piece). We’ve done it twice before. I’d dig up the links but I just don’t have the energy for that right now. They were great though, and I really love what she does with my words and I love taking a stab at creating something new with hers. I always am my own harshest critic and I showed her this one months ago but was unsure. She said she liked it but I feel like maybe it’s too simple. But I always do very long, elaborate things with her words so I wanted to try doing a simple one, something short and sparse I mean.
I didn’t get my shit together in time to do this before she went back to school so Anna, love, I totally understand if it takes you a long while to get around to doing one with my stuff but I just found this going through shit on my computer and felt like it’s what I want to go with, even if I’m still criticizing it as I do.
I was looking through her blog and after going six pages back, I decided to just add a 0 at the end, make it page 60 instead of 6 and found a bunch of old typewritten pieces she’d done back then so I tried to make something skeletal and delicate and short rather than overblown and dense like I usually do.
So, I hope you like it still, divine, sweetness, the lady (ap), and the rest of you as well.
